I remember when this space had ivy lined fountains filled with glistening ripples reflected off the mirrored ceilings. The magic magnified at Christmas as stings of light hung from the ceiling. In this space was a sense of adventure and wonder, but that was the mall of yesterday, and the modern age with its clean minimalist lines has arrived.
It’s In The Details:
The beauty of architecture is its immerssive ability to broaden the scope of perspectives. If you are paying attention to you and can draw your eye to the ceiling, the floor, or that strange hidden corner you had never noticed before. Though small, and simple in layout to many patrons, they are missing the unique and amazing dimensions to be discovered of only we looked up from our phones and away from our personal bubble of habit every once and a while. Implementing a multitude of geometric shapes to form an eye catching appeal makes Midland Park Mall stand out.
So much Natural Light:
With 8,000 borrowed in 1938 Dillards went from a five and dime in Nashville, Arkansas and grew through a trail of acquisitions and buy-outs nearly as complicated as the genealogy of Genesis expanded to its vast 300 locations it spans to today. Nearly 22,000 employees work to keep this legacy alive, that still is owned and controlled by the Dillard family.
With new renovations and a few remodeled store locations, Midland Park Mall still has a long way to go before offering the fun for everyone shopping experience that malls offer today.
